Sarah Lichtenwalner was phenomonal again at the RB Winter State Park Xterra. She was the 2nd place gal overall women finishing and 1st in her age group. She was the 3rd girl out of the water, 2nd coming in on the bike and held her 2nd for the run. I heard her and a couple other girls were whoopping up on the guys on the bike on that really rocky trail up there. Niicccee. Great job Sarah!

Elite Team Race Schedule
Saturday, August 22 - visitPA.com Rattling Creek Marathon, Halifax, PA
September 12 & 13 - Bear Creek MASS Finals Weekend, Bear Creek Resort, PA
Mike has been racing for 19 years and says his favorite race is Michaux Maximus because he “loves the rocks!” Riding his Santa Cruz Blur, in 2008 he placed 1st Expert Master at Michaux Maximus, Tour de Tykes, and Stoopid 50. At the Marysville stage race he placed 1st Overall B. He took 2nd Expert Master at Terror of Teaberry and Bear Creek, and at Mt. Snow Nationals he placed 14th in Expert Master. His 2009 racing goal is to win the MASS Expert Master class. Mike, who is a New Business Developer for a grocery wholesaler, also enjoys skiing and spending time with his 18 year old daughter.
Janice Morris
Two years ago was Janice’s first year racing and she can already claim the following wins: MASS series Championship Womens Sport II, National Championship Mt. Snow Womens Sport 35+, State Cross Championship 3rd. It’s too hard for her to pick a favorite race, she liked Greenbriar, Iron Hill and Mt. Snow. Her 2008 goal is to not fall as much while riding her Independent Fabrication Hardtail and Specialized Women’s epic comp full suspension. Janice is a Territorial Manager for Lackawanna Casualty.
Sally McClain
Sally recently traded in her 10 year reign as a stay-at-home-mom for a full-time job as a speech/language clinician and graduate student. She was dubbed “Smiley”by another racer who thought she wasn’t working hard enough because she was smiling rather than drooling. Since she was the 2007 MASS Expert Women Series Champ, I think we can disagree about the smiling vs. drooling theory. Sally prefers riding her Specialized Epic on rocky terrain and says there’s no way she could race without the support of her husband and sons. Her favorite cheer is “Go Mommy, go Mommy!”
Mike Laub
Mike’s the ring leader of the Mountainside race crew and the recipient of the Coach of the Year award. When he’s not on the bike or teaching indoor cycling he’s earning race entry money working at Tyco. Mike’s impressive race results for 2007 include National MTB Series Champion Master 45+; 1st, Deer Valley National, UT; 1st, Sugar Mountain National, NC; 1st, Maryland State Champion, Greenbriar; 2nd, Bulldog Rump, NJ; 3rd, Arizona National; 4th, Fontana National, CA; and 2nd, Master 45+, PA State Cyclocross Championships. He rides an Ellsworth Sub 22 & Ellsworth Truth and his favorite race is Mt. Snow because “it has lots of climbing and a great technical downhill, and its always wet and gnarly.”
Andy Hoover
Andy Has been racing for 10 years. Last year he placed 1st, Expert Senior, MASS Series and 2nd Expert 30-34, Mt. Snow, VT. Andy, an electrician, rides a 2001 Schwinn Homegrown Pro. His 2008 racing goal is to have fun.
Joel Moats
Joel has been racing since 2001 and says the Michaux Series is his favorite because it's where he started riding and racing and it's close to home. His 2008 race accomplishments include 3rd Expert Vet II at Fairhill, 3rd B Men at Iron Cross Lite, 4th Expert Vet II at French Creek, and 8th B Men at Kelly Acres CX. His 2008 season was cut short due to moving into a new home. When he's not riding his Salsa Mamasita or Fisher Rigid his alternative stress relief is provided by Telecaster guitars and Line 6 amps. Joeltrain, as some of his friends call him, supports his racing habit as a HVAC Technician at Chambersburg Hospital.
Craig Thompson
This is Craig's first year racing! He's debuting on a Specialized Epic and will consider his racing season a succes if he has fun and doesn't crash. His favorite place to ride is the Oesterling Farm in Marysville. When he's not wearing a pink trimmed sombrero or cycling he works at es3 in York. Good luck Craig!
